Whistler Mountain Bike Park celebrates 20 years of its iconic Women’s Night program — a grassroots initiative that has empowered thousands of women to ride, connect and grow their skills in one of the world’s most legendary bike parks. From first-time riders to those taking on double-black trails, the program has become a cornerstone of Whistler’s summer culture, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for riders of all levels and helping shape the mountain biking community in Whistler and beyond.
Womens Night – 20 years
Explorer and expedition cyclist Dr Kate Leeming OAM travels to Antarctica to attempt something never before achieved on a bicycle: cycling across Queen Maud Land. Facing scary ice, deep soft snow, sastrugi, whiteouts and a crevasse field, her 200-kilometre journey becomes an extreme test of resilience in the harshest environment on Earth. The expedition also forms part of Kate’s preparation for her larger ambition — to make the first bicycle crossing of the Antarctic continent via the South Pole.

Three women venture from British Columbia to Patagonia to explore what’s possible, only to be met with harsh conditions, unexpected challenges and their own limits. As unpredictable weather, logistical breakdowns, physical exhaustion and self-doubt set in, the expedition becomes less about the destination and more about resilience. Stripped of comfort, certainty and control, What It Takes peels back the polished image of adventure to reveal the emotional and mental reality behind expeditions — confronting fear, ego and the expectations the women place on themselves and each other.
